1.18.09

So once again I find that I haven't been doing so well on the bloggage. I guess that all I can say about that is that I can't wait to have a lot to talk about. There are a lot of great things going on, but they're all still in negotiation phase, so it would be too soon to talk about so many of them without perchance 'jinxing myself,' or giving the whole 'bad juju' thing. Whatever it is.

The studio is just about finished, we are waiting on some last minute necessities (glass panes, our grand piano, the last of the headphone jacks being put together), but we are hoping to be RECORDING by the beginning of February. Yes, this will put our release date back a month or two from March; but hey, then I'll have something to talk about.

Other than that, things have been moving at a steady but slow pace. We are rehearsing 3-4 times a week, we are heading to nyc to play at Kenny's this Thursday, and I have a trip planned for Nashville at the end of the month. The family is also going to Florida at the beginning of February to visit our grandmother, so I guess there is a lot of shifting going around.

Overall, things are pretty okay. Yoga and cake-decorating classes are the highlight (because they're awesome), and playing shows when we have them. We are at the point when our entire live set is just songs off the new album, so we are trying to not play too often so that they don't get old to us or to anyone else who comes out and sees us.

Contracts, business, and more negotiations. Trust me, I can't wait to be able to tell you all of the wonderful things we have in the midst. But I must wait, for the bad juju is a terrible and big ol' beast.

Q: Oh, and SXSW '09. Devo??

A: Yes, Devo.

2009!

Check here for my recap of 2008 in terms of the band and where things are and have been moving. I'll post a new entry sometime very soon, but in the meantime, thank you to everyone who has ever supported the band and made the past year a wonderful one, good times and bad.
